Here are some pictures
of a banjo I bought from Kevin Scott from Findajo
Banjo in England. This banjo clearly has my greatgrandfathers initials
in the headstock along with the patent date of 1920 on the rim. There's also
a patent applied for on the experimental metal resonator which I've seen in
pictures of other Majestics on Guenter's
page. To me this banjo proves that Majestic came after the 1920 date. The
motorcycle picture makes no reference to Majestic but does contain a mention
of a patent. I don't know how many GFP instruments exist but I think this
makes this one the earliest of my greatgrandfathers banjos I have ever seen
in existence. This would mean that even the Majestic banjos without the patented
rim would all still have to be made after this one. The only instruments preceding
this one would be only the mandolins I suspect.
